Arias: "The new signings strengthen the middle of the pitch"

Valencia CF ended the winter market with the additions of Ferro, Christian Oliva and Patrick Cutrone, plus the return of Cristiano Piccini. Ricardo Arias, an ambassador and legend at Valencia CF, spoke to VCF MEDIA Radio about the importance of the arrivals for the second half of the season.
Three signings that strengthen the group
“In the three reinforcements I see hunger, I see aggressiveness, and I see a desire to be important. Anyone who comes here to help is welcome. Those who have arrived are coming to a team in difficulties, that is very young and that is in need of help from everyone. They complement a backbone that was already there, and add a bit of experience and competitiveness.”
Strengthening the centre of the park
“These additions strengthen the middle of the pitch. Bringing a centre back, a pivot and a forward is an important boost. I hope that the four of them -and I also include Piccini in this- know the situation in which the team are, the mission that corresponds to them, and can demonstrate their professionalism.”
Patrick Cutrone
“Italian players guarantee aggressiveness on the pitch. They are seasoned, rugged players. Cutrone seems like a tough player, who fights with everyone and who has character. That could be very good for the team. He can provide Gameiro, Maxi and Vallejo can with aggressiveness and effectiveness.”
Ferro
“Ferro's physique, his size and his presence say a lot about him. They say that he is a player who commands the defence, that he is an important player, and that he distributes the ball well.”
Christian Oliva
Oliva is the new signing I've seen play the most. He is a classic Uruguayan pivot: Gritty, getting stuck in and difficult to turn on if he is close to you. He can be an invaluable help to Carlos Soler and Uros Racic in midfield.”
The demand for a quick adaptation
“The level of demand is obvious. They haven’t come here without knowing about the club. However, that level of requirement has to be surrounded by quality and, above all, honesty on the pitch. You have to demand a quick adaptation so that they prove their worth in rapid time. That is what has to be asked of them and what is expected of them. Valencia CF are a big club, and you have to give all that you have.”
